Spiritual Liaisons

A marriage of bronze and stone.

Star Liana York and Jeffrey Lee Brock have come together with a love for the infinity of artistic vocabulary. Both are sharing the magic of inspiration from the artisans of Stone Age tribes worldwide, to today's contemporary cultural messengers. As a result York and Brock have created a collaboration. After working together for years on Star's bronze monuments, the two have found a shared fascination for artistic interpretation. They are constantly charging and recharging each other's creativity with everything from primitive culture studies to their love for animals and nature. A collaboration was a natural evolution.

Star York, master of bronze and silver for over 30 years and her apprentice of the past four years, stone sculptor Jeff Brock, have decided to create an annual offering each fall. The two will combine their efforts in sculpting a unified artistic vision.

Drawing from their mutual affinity for animals and inspiration of early effigy, fetish and ceremonial artistry, York and Brock have titled their annual works: 'Spiritual Liaisons'.

From the quote of Chief Letakots-Lesa, "in the beginning of all things, wisdom and knowledge were with the animals; for the one above, did not speak directly to man he sent certain animals to tell man that he showed himself through the beasts, and that from them, and from the stars and the sun and the moon, man should learn.
