Like the other sculptures in my Talisman Series, this Jaguar wears a necklace of various stones that enhance the personal power that his owner wishes to bring into his life experiences.

Stones carry energies that are particular to each, and have been valued worldwide by ancient and indigenous cultures for thousands of years, having properties like protection, prosperity, healing, and foresight.

Black jaguars are melanistic color variations found in only about 10% of the jaguar population so are considered spiritual animals by their native peoples who share their habitat.  They symbolize the ability to navigate the dark without fear of the unknown or unseen.

The personality of this character goes back to my experiences with the felines in my life, and how I recognized their personalities in other art forms, like cartoons. 

As a child, I found the “Pink Panther” particularly amusing due to the personality the creators portrayed in his humorous expressions.  It was a delight to add this element of humor to this sculpture!
